Haiti Country
Haiti, country in the Caribbean Sea that includes the western third of the island of Hispaniola and such smaller islands as Gonâve, Tortue (Tortuga), Grande Caye, and Vache. The capital is Port-au-Prince.
Haiti, whose population is almost entirely descended from African slaves, won independence from France in 1804, making it the second country in the Americas, after the United States, to free itself from colonial rule. Over the centuries, however, economic, political, and social difficulties as well as a number of natural disasters have beset Haiti with chronic poverty and other serious problems. |
Unforgotten Project
Unforgotten Project is a ministry of Steve and Amanda Pettit. They work with a local Pastor Franckel Formetus to bring Christian education to almost 500 Haitian children in 2 remote mountain villages. Some of the children walk over 2 hours each way up and down the mountain to go to school!
You can support a child with uniform and books or a teacher. The schools need playground equipment, musical instruments, a new well for clean safe water. The needs are endless.
Pastor Franckel started a church that has grown from just a handful to over 250! They need construction material to expand!

"The country of Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Haiti holds a special place in my life because my first missions trip was to Haiti in 1982. It was in Haiti that I felt GOD call me and Susan to missions! After 56 Missions GOD’S call on our lives is even stronger!"
Because of your faithful giving, Maranatha International provided the salary for a special needs teacher for 1 year and provided solar power for their electrical needs. We also provided the funds to put a roof on the church."
